The school is full of blessings
It has been rewarding to watch the renovation work of the School completing everyday this summer. In 2019, the school had received the donation of Mr Tang Hing Shing to build the “Picture Book-cum-Discovery of Wonders Pavilion”, and enriched the schoolyard. The designers, learning our visions and missions and principles and concepts, are delighted to incorporate both aesthetic and practical elements in their design. The design has been successful as to winning the International Design Awards (IDA). We are honoured to operate an award winning facility.
This year, we have received the donation of the couple of Mr Sonny Yau. They have visited us many times and as an appreciation of our enthusiasm, our teaching methods and children’s demonstration of outward behavior and active learning, decided to donate for the renovation of the schoolyard. Children surely would enjoy the new environment. Furthermore, we have the support of volunteers in many respects of our operation and we wish to express our heartfelt thanks to them.
2020-2021 has been a challenging year for schools; despite of the adversity, we have explored multitudes of new activities and learning experiences, such as indoor adventures, African drums and make use of the opportunity to strengthen our curriculum, including read aloud and other aspects of linguistic learning. Remarkable results have been observed by, importantly, parents. Possibly because of the progress, and the parents’ recommendations, more pupils have enrolled. The coming year would see more teachers to join us, including a bearer of the “The Chief Executive’s Award for Teaching Excellence”. Our team would reach a new height.
Through the Picture Book Approach, we have built up the reading habit of our children, we have shared our experience with colleagues in other kindergartens. Invited by the Curriculum Development Council, I have delivered a talk on the theme of “Chinese Culture and the Cultivation of Children’s Moral Education” in June. It has been well received and a second session would be conducted in September. The Education University of Hong Kong had video-recorded our teaching session(s) as a blue-print for educating future teachers. Moreover, the School-based Support (Kindergarten) Section of the Education Bureau has invited us to share our experience. Such activities within the academic community would be a recognition and appreciation of our efforts in the curriculum development. On this basis, we shall be more diligently explore ways and means so that teachers would teach in joy and children learn in happiness and feeling the touch of love.
